In a touching demonstration of community solidarity and quick response, the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company (FVFC) sprung into action to assist Daisy the dog, a cherished local pet, who had found herself in a tight squeeze – quite literally.

The story unfolded when Daisy, a beloved resident of Franklinville, ended up with her head trapped inside the rim of a tire at her home.

According to Lt. Brandon Volpe, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer, the crew initially attempted to free the dog using dish soap and water but found her firmly wedged in. They then attempted vegetable oil, followed by wrapping her neck in plastic wrap, hoping the combination of oil and soap would create enough slipperiness for her to wiggle free.

When all that failed, Volpe remembered he had plasma cutters at home. They’re used for cutting steel and metal, so he knew a tire would be no match for the machine.

The crew carefully loaded Daisy into the firetruck and set off for Volpe’s garage, where they skillfully and successfully extracted the tire, freeing Daisy from her confinement.
